Keely Contant Celebrates 3 Years Working at Atlanta Design & Build

Celebrating 3 Years with Keely Contant

Atlanta Design & Build is celebrating our 20th Anniversary this year. We also celebrate the addition of Keely Contant, who has been with the company three years now. Keely assists with both the production and administrative teams. She is the wife of H. Dale Contant, President and Principal Owner of Atlanta Design & Build.

Keely Contant and The Importance of Family

Keely and her twin sister, Kirby, along with four siblings, grew up in Boca Raton, Florida. In 7th grade, Keely met Dale, but they didn’t start dating until after high school. Once married, the newlyweds decided to move to North Carolina. Keely’s parents had already relocated to Bear Wallow Mountain in the Hendersonville, NC area, and NC seemed like a great place to start a family.

Dale and Keely ContantWith the help of his father, Dale built a house for himself and Keely on top of Appalachian Ski Mountain between Boone and Blowing Rock where they lived for seven years. Keely was a certified travel agent and Dale worked as a mason contractor, eventually getting involved in the insurance industry. Their first daughter, Lindsey, was born in Boone. In December of 1988, pregnant with their second daughter, Sydney, they moved to Marietta, Georgia, where they have been ever since—almost 28 years. In 1993, last but not least, their twin daughters, Ali and Alex were born.

Dale and Keely decided that she would stay at home with their children and strive to be the best mom she could possibly be. It was Keely’s wonderful mother who inspired her to do this. “It was not the most popular decision amongst my peers, nevertheless one that made me who I am today. Staying at home and raising my daughters taught me what was most important in life, how to balance and prioritize my life, and certainly how to multi-task!”

Dale Contant Judging for Master Design Awards

Dale Contant Helps Judge 2016 Master Design Awards

Patrick O’Toole, publisher of Qualified Remodeler magazine, recently invited Dale Contant to serve as a judge for the 38th annual Master Design Awards competition. The judging took place in Chicago from June 29-30, 2016. This award recognizes remodelers, architects, builders, kitchen and bath specialists and other professionals for outstanding project design and construction.

“Visiting the Sola Group QR corporate offices was a special treat. It was a great honor being on the panel of judges with such an excellent team of industry experts”, Dale commented, “and not an easy job, since there were so many incredible projects to review.” Winning entries will be featured in the September 2016 issue of QR. Awards will be presented at a special reception on October 5 in Baltimore, the evening before the Remodeling Show.

Celebrating 11 Years with Dave Newell

Atlanta Design & Build is celebrating our 20th Anniversary this year. We also celebrate the 11 years we have been blessed with the accomplished skills of our Project Manager, Dave Newell.

Dave’s Early Experience in the Building Industry

Dave describes himself as a “good ol’ country boy.” He was born in Kennestone Hospital right here in Marietta, but he moved away to Florida when he was just 15. While living in Florida, Dave began working in the building industry alongside his future father-in-law. That five year stint was the first experience he had in construction and he learned everything on-the-job.

After that Dave moved to Indiana to work for Bristol Pipe, a company that manufactured PVC pipes. He was the Assistant Foreman on the nightshift at the factory, until he decided at age 35 to move back to Georgia. He returned to his roots just one year before Bristol Pipe unexpectedly closed the doors on its Indiana facility. Dave considers his move back home a very fortunate one.

Sydney Contant’s climb to Project Manager

Sydney Contant of Atlanta Design & Build

After graduating from high school, Sydney worked for five years as an apprentice under ADB project managers, Mike Pike and Jamie Franks. Mike and Jamie had her doing everything, from demo, framing, and trimming out, to decking and screened porches. Now she is a Certified Remodeling Project Manager (CRPM) running jobs on her own. Her favorite part of a project comes after the walls are up and the project is ready for all the cosmetic details. “I actually enjoy tedious work,” said Sydney. “I get great satisfaction out of giving our customers exactly what they want, giving them 100 percent.” Continue reading Sydney Contant Receives “40 Under 40” Award
